The Beckley MCA students in tiers 2 and 3 were invited to the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. Invited by Mrs. Karen Wines, M.S., from the Lewisburg campus, the students were given the opportunity to explore all the aspects of the Anatomy Lab.
Students looked at their coursework in a brand new light, by engaging in a hands-on experience that examined different aspects of the medical field. Activities included: X – ray World, Build a Skeleton, identifying organs and symptoms associated in different disease processes, and histology viewing and identification. Students also experienced a “CSI” walk-through in which they identified how a person had deceased.
One student noted, “This brought everything we learned into a new perspective. I am grateful for the knowledge my instructors have shared with me!” Valley College helped to provide these students with an experience of a lifetime!
